The FFEM (the French Global Environment Facility/Fonds Français pour l'Environnement Mondial) has been working to promote protection of the global environment in developing countries since it was established by the French government in 1994.
Our activities are in line with the strategic priorities of French development assistance policy.
The FGEF is mandated to cofinance development projects with high environmental component in the areas of biodiversity, the greenhouse effect, international waters, land degradation and desertification, persistent organic pollutants and the stratospheric ozone layer.

News on projects supported by the FFEM
Created in 2006, the FFEM's Small-Scale Initiatives Programme (SSI) aims to support African civil society groups working on biodiversity and climate change by providing grants to small-scale projects.
The third SSIP phase covers the period July 2011 - July 2013 .
