How the FGEF acts on the stratospheric ozone layer

As well as monitoring strategies and advising on the guidelines submitted by France to the meetings of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol and the Multilateral Fund’s Executive Board on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, the FGEF secretariat also pilots the implementation and management of projects presented by France, which may absorb up to 20% of its contributions to the Multilateral Fund.

Most of the project financing is for investment, technical assistance or training to ensure that Article V countries are keeping up with their ODS phase-out schedules for chlorofluorocarbons, methyl bromide, carbon tetrachloride, halons, etc. The projects concern the conversion of industrial equipment, management plans for liquid coolants and national plans for terminal ODS phase-out, which run for several years.
