The Cocoa of Excellence project on RFI

Sébastien Balmisse from the company Kaoka and Ernesto Parra y Guerra from the Peruvian cocoa cooperative Colpa de Loros were guests on the RFI programme. The episode explored this project which is managing to produce organic and ethical cocoa while restoring the soil, paying farmers a fair wage, and remaining competitive on the global market.
“This is a groundbreaking project. It aims not only to provide cooperatives with the tools to prove that their cocoa is deforestation-free, but also to contribute to the regeneration of ecosystems throughout Latin America, particularly in the Amazon, which as we all know is badly degraded,” explained Sébastien Balmisse.
