Mangroves Initiative - IUCN 2020 Congress: Mangroves Thematic Session

As part of the World Conservation Congress, the IUCN, the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM), and the Research Institute for Development (IRD) are organizing a mangroves thematic session: “Global Pressures on Mangroves and Their Communities: Solutions from Conservation and Restoration.” Introduced by a film by Alex Rosenfeld, this session will unfold in three stages:
- Communities, local participation, and sustainable use: towards fair and sustainable use of coastal marine resources (led by IRD)
- Examples of good practices in conservation and restoration (led by FFEM)
- Governance challenges and opportunities: Moving from words to action (led by IUCN)
The conclusion will be introduced by Mr. Ivete Maibaze, Minister of Environment of Mozambique (to be confirmed).
