Mangroves Initiative - Restoration Begins: 26 New Channels Dug

Based on analyses of the restoration sites and reference sites, the hydrological rehabilitation protocol was defined (excavation of 26 new channels and restoration of 19 pre-existing channels – quite an enormous task!). Temporary rustic nurseries will make it possible to produce Rhizophora sp. and Avicennia sp. seedlings. The materials extracted from the channel excavations will be used to create an artificial platform that will be reforested with propagules and/or A. germinans seedlings.
