The Amazon forest contains “vital reserves”, areas rich in both irrecoverable carbon and biodiversity. The FFEM’s support to four Amazon countries aims to encourage the emergence of innovative and sustainable financing mechanisms in order to ensure the long-term integrity of these regions, which are indispensable to the world’s climate stability and the subsistence of millions of people.
