"Our Futures Forests : Vital Reserves in the Amazon" - Progress Overview (March 2026)
Published on
This document, produced by Conservation International, presents the main results of the program "Our Future Forests – Vital Reserves", implemented in the Amazon.
Through a multi-stakeholder approach involving governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, this program contributes to the protection and sustainable management of more than 7 million hectares of forests among the richest in biodiversity and irrecoverable carbon. It highlights concrete advances in territorial governance, the creation of protected areas, the development of sustainable financial mechanisms and the strengthening of local livelihoods.
The document also reviews the regional dynamics at work, notably knowledge sharing, strengthening of collaborations and the emergence of innovative solutions to reconcile conservation, the fight against climate change and territorial development.
It thus illustrates how integrated and locally rooted initiatives can contribute to large-scale sustainable impacts in the Amazon.
