30 ans du FFEM - Gros plan table 2
On 10th April, the French Fund for the Global Environment (FFEM) celebrated three decades of pioneering initiatives in the service of life in Paris at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Surrounded by its institutional guardians, its historical partners and many project holders, the FFEM wanted to make this anniversary much more than a simple commemorative moment. It was an opportunity for introspection, transmission and co-construction with all the forces that have built and continue this “so special financial institution”, as highlighted by Barbara Pompili, new Ambassador for the Environment.

Women and Biodiversity: When Economic Inclusion Meets Forest Conservation in Cameroon

Nebeday rencontre PPI 20 ans
Since its creation, the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM) has been supporting projects that reconcile environmental protection with reducing inequalities, ensuring the inclusion of women in economic circuits and decision-making bodies. This approach guarantees, from the earliest stages, sustainable initiatives that can scale up for both sustainable and inclusive development. The FFEM thus contributes to international efforts for gender equality and women's empowerment worldwide, goals that are enshrined in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which we celebrate this year on its 30th anniversary.

FFEM Insights: Xavier Debade, expert in ecosystem restoration and sustainable forest management

Projet Macizo
To better understand the work of the FFEM, we invite you to meet Xavier Debade, who joined FFEM in July 2023 as a project manager focusing on forest conservation and ecosystem restoration. As the largest reservoir of terrestrial biodiversity, forests play a crucial role in climate regulation.

With his expertise, Xavier helps advance one of FFEM’s key priorities: in line with France’s international commitments, we aim to support zero-deforestation initiatives, the development of land, soil, and forest restoration models, and the production of data on the performance of agroecological, agroforestry, and forestry systems.

Photo de groupe Union Natural 2024
On the occasion of World Day of Social Justice, we would like to share one of the flagship projects supported by the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM). Since 2018, the FFEM has been supporting the socio-economic development of Colombia’s Pacific region through the Unión Natural project—an ambitious initiative that aims to preserve forest ecosystems and combat deforestation while improving the living conditions of local communities. During our teams' visit in 2024, major advances in terms of community inclusion and the resonance of the innovative model were shared.
